UK-based fuel cell technology company Intelligent Energy has signed a new collaboration agreement with South Korean energy solutions provider IBT. The two companies will jointly develop a 100kW hydrogen fuel cell generator designed for the South Korean market.
The project represents a key milestone in the partnership between the two firms and supports South Korea’s push toward hydrogen energy and carbon neutrality. The new generator will use Intelligent Energy’s IE-DRIVE™ fuel cell system, which uses evaporative cooling. It will be customized to meet Korea’s specific certification and performance standards.
“Partnering with IBT allows us to bring our zero-emission technology to one of the most forward-thinking hydrogen markets in the world,” said Greg Harris, Chief Commercial Officer at Intelligent Energy. “We are offering a practical, clean power solution for off-grid and backup applications.”
The fuel cell generator is expected to provide a clean alternative to traditional diesel-powered systems. It will be used in critical infrastructure, remote areas, and backup power systems. Certification and initial deployment are expected in 2026.
IBT, which has strong experience in Korea’s energy sector, will lead the local integration, certification, and distribution of the new generator. The partnership aims to help commercial and industrial users reduce emissions and move toward cleaner energy solutions.
“This collaboration will make use of our high-power fuel cell technology to meet growing demand for scalable, clean power,” said Harris.
The joint effort highlights both companies’ commitment to advancing hydrogen fuel cell technologies and supporting the global shift to sustainable energy.
