AccuBots to Showcase Precision Engineering at National Manufacturing Week

by sthv

Huddersfield-based engineering firm Accu will take centre stage at Smart Manufacturing Week, held on 4 and 5 June at the NEC Birmingham, with a live demonstration of its high-performance precision fasteners in action.

Visitors to Stand 5/H60 can expect to see Accu’s innovative “AccuBots” — 3D-printed battling robots — in a series of live demonstrations that highlight the strength and reliability of the company’s precision components under real-world stress.

Accu’s fasteners, including shoulder screws, Polyfix self-tapping screws, and brass threaded inserts, will be put to the test during these battles. These components are designed to improve the durability of 3D-printed parts by providing strong threaded connections that can be assembled and disassembled repeatedly.

“We are excited to showcase our AccuBots at Smart Manufacturing Week,” said Alastair Morris, Managing Director of Accu. “This is our first time presenting them at a trade show, and it’s a unique way for visitors to engage with precision components. The robots help bring our work to life, showing the real value of resilience and design in a fun and educational format.”

Accu has also partnered with local schools, including Holmfirth High School, to support student robotics clubs. Pupils are developing their own robots to compete against those designed by Accu’s engineers. This initiative gives students hands-on experience in CAD, additive manufacturing (AM), and basic mechanical design — skills essential for future engineers.

Smart Manufacturing Week is a major industry event that combines in-person and online sessions. It aims to foster collaboration across the manufacturing and engineering sectors. The event hosts expert speakers and thought leaders who will share insight on innovative solutions and future technologies shaping the industry.

Accu’s interactive stand and educational outreach reflect its commitment to innovation and its mission to inspire the next generation of engineers.
