Huddersfield-based engineering firm Accu will take centre stage at Smart Manufacturing Week, held on 4 and 5 June at the NEC Birmingham, with a live demonstration of its high-performance precision fasteners in action.
Visitors to Stand 5/H60 can expect to see Accu’s innovative “AccuBots” — 3D-printed battling robots — in a series of live demonstrations that highlight the strength and reliability of the company’s precision components under real-world stress.
Accu’s fasteners, including shoulder screws, Polyfix self-tapping screws, and brass threaded inserts, will be put to the test during these battles. These components are designed to improve the durability of 3D-printed parts by providing strong threaded connections that can be assembled and disassembled repeatedly.
The stand will feature interactive demonstrations and hands-on opportunities for attendees to test demo robots themselves. Engineers and visitors alike will be invited to explore how Accu’s components perform in high-stress scenarios, offering a dynamic way to learn about precision engineering.

Accu has also partnered with local schools, including Holmfirth High School, to support student robotics clubs. Pupils are developing their own robots to compete against those designed by Accu’s engineers. This initiative gives students hands-on experience in CAD, additive manufacturing (AM), and basic mechanical design — skills essential for future engineers.
