BEP Surface Technologies Sets Ambitious Five-Year Growth Plan

by sthv

BEP Surface Technologies, a UK-based leader in surface finishing, has announced a bold five-year plan to double its revenue by 2030. The strategy focuses on innovation, sustainability, and skills development, as the company builds on recent investments and acquisitions.

The firm, which specializes in advanced coating solutions, aims to increase its annual revenue from £5 million in 2025 to £8 million by 2030. This growth will be supported by its research division, BEP Solutions, and the integration of Plating Solutions, which it acquired in 2024.

Focus on Future Technologies

BEP is placing greater emphasis on the nuclear, nanotechnology, and graphene industries. One of its major developments is a new copper-nanodiamond composite, created in collaboration with Finnish company Carbodeon. The material is believed to be the first of its kind in the world.

Managing Director Andrew McClusky said the growth plan is about more than just numbers. “Our strategy isn’t just about financial targets,” he said. “It’s about leading the future of surface engineering. We’re investing in new technologies, in people, and in acquisitions to push the industry forward.”

Sustainability and Skills at the Core

The company has already taken steps to modernize operations. It invested £500,000 to upgrade its electroplating facilities and launched a new staff development programme called Be Better. The initiative aims to bridge skills gaps in the manufacturing sector.

BEP has also cut its energy consumption by 40%. A newly hired chemical engineer is now leading efforts to develop more efficient and sustainable plating techniques. This comes as many industries face growing pressure to move away from traditional chrome-based methods.

Tracking Progress with ETS

To measure success, BEP uses a unique internal metric called the Excellence Test Score (ETS). Developed by Commercial Director Mark Prince, the ETS tracks progress in innovation, operations, and strategic growth. The company’s ETS has doubled from 9 in 2019 to 18 in 2025. The goal is to reach the maximum score of 26 by 2030.

“Too many business strategies never leave the boardroom,” said Prince. “We wanted to act. With initiatives like Be Better, we’re closing the skills gap and delivering real results. That’s why we’re growing while others are struggling.”

Expanding Markets and Reputation

BEP’s client list includes leading companies in nuclear energy, aerospace, defence, manufacturing, and packaging. The company also plans to support global nuclear waste management efforts as it expands its presence internationally.

With steady investment, a modernized brand, and an improved digital presence, BEP is not only growing as a manufacturer but also positioning itself as a thought leader in surface technology. The firm’s future direction aligns closely with the UK’s net-zero goals for industry.

“Our story blends heritage with innovation,” McClusky said. “We’ve laid the foundation — now we’re building something exceptional.”
