Marelli Showcases Scalable Vehicle Technologies at Auto Shanghai 2025

by sthv

Global automotive technology supplier Marelli has unveiled a series of new vehicle innovations at Auto Shanghai 2025. The company is highlighting its modular platform strategy, which is designed to speed up product development and offer flexible integration across various vehicle categories.

Marelli’s new technologies are built on a scalable foundation with three platform tiers: Lean, Pro, and Elite. Each tier uses pre-developed components that can be adapted to meet the needs of different carmakers. This structure helps reduce development time and supports a wide range of vehicles, from entry-level models to high-performance luxury cars.

The Lean platform focuses on cost efficiency and simplicity. It offers lightweight, eco-friendly solutions suitable for entry-level vehicles. These systems aim to reduce weight, improve energy use, and simplify components—without sacrificing key performance features.

Among the key highlights at the show is LeanEnergy, a new battery management system. This system uses a centralized design that connects all battery cells to a single control board. It supports up to 108 cells and works well with mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and compact electric vehicles. The system combines both high- and low-voltage circuits on one board, while still maintaining safety through electrical isolation. Marelli has been mass-producing battery systems since 2010, showing strong experience and reliability in this area.

Another debut is LeanSuspension, an advanced damping system. It uses a single electronic valve to manage rebound and compression in real-time. This setup offers performance similar to more complex dual-valve systems but is lighter and more affordable. It helps improve ride quality and control, especially in mid-range vehicles.

Marelli is also showcasing a new feature of its ProDisplay technology. In this version, the display is hidden behind a vehicle’s door panel. It remains invisible until activated, contributing to a clean, minimalist cabin design. This hidden display blends style with function, offering automakers new ways to shape the in-car experience.

In addition, Marelli is introducing a large-format ProDisplay system. This version includes central and passenger screens that feature vivid visuals and responsive touch control. It is designed to boost in-car entertainment and enhance the driving and riding experience.

With its new modular approach and smart innovations, Marelli continues to deliver flexible, forward-looking technologies to automakers around the world.
