Synertec Corporation Ltd (ASX:SOP) is preparing to cut production costs for its flagship renewable energy generator, Powerhouse, as changes in the global battery market open new opportunities. The company expects that cheaper batteries from China could slash production costs by up to 70% over the next two years.
Powerhouse is a low-carbon power solution that combines solar energy, battery storage, and advanced control systems. It is designed to provide clean, off-grid electricity for remote and industrial use. With battery prices falling, Synertec aims to make Powerhouse even more affordable for businesses seeking reliable and sustainable power.
Tapping Into Cheaper Batteries
Global battery prices are under pressure due to a combination of factors, including reduced government subsidies and increased competition among Chinese manufacturers. These conditions have created an oversupply of batteries, which Synertec plans to use to its advantage.
The Melbourne-based engineering firm has secured bulk discounts with leading battery suppliers. This move is expected to significantly lower Powerhouse production costs. According to a report in the Australian Financial Review, Synertec Managing Director Michael Carroll said the company could reduce costs by 50–70% over two years.
Powerhouse has already proven itself in the field. At remote gas wells operated by Santos in Queensland, it has delivered power at half the cost of diesel generators and achieved a reliability rate above 99.9%.
Growing Production and Global Partnerships
Synertec is also expanding its production capabilities. The company has entered a partnership with Ritar International Group, a major global battery manufacturer. This partnership will help Synertec produce hundreds of Powerhouse units each year. It will also make the manufacturing process more efficient and improve the performance of the systems in tough conditions.
The deal with Ritar is expected to improve Powerhouse’s scalability and ensure better supply chain stability. It will also help optimise the technology for use in remote and harsh environments.
Recognition for Sustainability Leadership
Synertec’s efforts in clean energy innovation were recently recognised nationally. The company was named the 2025 AFR Sustainability Leader in the Professional Services, Engineering, Advisory & Health category. The award highlights the impact of the Powerhouse technology on sustainable development.
