Trelleborg Sealing Solutions showcased its latest innovations for electric vehicles (EVs) at The Battery Show Europe. The company highlighted new materials and advanced sealing technologies designed to improve EV battery performance.
New Materials to Boost Battery Efficiency
Trelleborg introduced its CellXPro range, a collection of sealing compounds made especially for EV battery cells. These materials are designed to enhance battery efficiency, extend driving range, speed up charging, and support sustainability goals.
The CellXPro lineup includes EPDM, FKM, and PFA compounds. Each material is specially formulated to meet the chemical and durability needs of EV batteries, ensuring long-lasting performance.
Axel Weimann, Global Segment Director for Automotive at Trelleborg, said, “The CellXPro portfolio builds on our experience working with battery cell makers to develop sealing materials tailored for electric vehicle applications. Launching this range at The Battery Show positions Trelleborg as the preferred sealing partner for battery manufacturers.”
Advanced Sealing Solutions for Electric Vehicles
Alongside CellXPro, Trelleborg offers thermoplastic cell insulators. These can be supplied as individual parts or combined into multicomponent systems. Such combined designs lower the number of parts needed by merging electrical insulation and sealing into one unit.
The company also showcased the Stefa HiSpin EV40 radial shaft seal, made for high-speed electric motors. This seal uses proprietary Phase-Shifted-Wave (PSW) technology to ensure low friction and effective sealing even at very high speeds.
Another key product displayed was the Rubore Washer. This three-layer laminated component protects electrical systems from moisture and corrosion. It also adapts to uneven surfaces while maintaining a tight seal.
