Bansal Wire Industries, a prominent producer of stainless steel (SS) and galvanised iron (GI) wires in India, has officially launched its expanded manufacturing facility in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh. This new development has significantly increased the plant’s SS wire production capacity from 220,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 360,000 MTPA, making it the largest SS wire production site in the country.
The company has invested approximately ₹550 crore in this expansion. Pranav Bansal, Managing Director and CEO of Bansal Wire Industries, highlighted that the upgraded facility aligns with the company’s vision to lead the wire manufacturing sector through innovation, sustainable practices, and advanced engineering.
As part of the expansion, Bansal Wire is also setting up a dedicated Research and Development (R&D) centre at the Dadri plant. The R&D centre will focus on developing high-performance wire products and will support processes like induction and oil tempering. The centre will also contribute to the production of specialised wires, including Low Relaxation Prestressed Concrete (LRPC) wires for structural reinforcement, and Brass-Coated Reinforced Wires, which are used in high-pressure rubber hose manufacturing. These wires will cater to industries such as automotive, construction, infrastructure, and engineering, with applications in both domestic and international markets.
Looking ahead, Bansal Wire plans another expansion phase at the Dadri site, aiming to increase production to 420,000 MTPA by the first half of FY26. This phase is expected to involve an additional investment of ₹70-80 crore. During the Q3 FY25 earnings call, Mr. Bansal projected that the plant could generate a revenue of around ₹3,500 crore once it reaches full capacity. This expansion is driven by a surge in demand observed since August 2024.
Mr. Bansal also mentioned that consolidating production in larger plants like the Dadri facility offers cost advantages over smaller, scattered units. Future investments will focus on expanding larger facilities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
In the long term, Bansal Wire aims to reach a production capacity of 600,000 MTPA at the Dadri site, although no timeline has been set for this target.
Founded in 1985, Bansal Wire Industries is a major player in India’s wire manufacturing sector. The company currently holds a 20% share of the domestic SS wire market and reported a turnover of ₹2,466.03 crore in FY24.
