Some of the brightest names in British engineering and manufacturing are set to take centre stage as finalists in the 2025 Enginuity Skills Awards. The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on 3 July at the Park Plaza London Riverbank.
This year, six of the nine individual category finalists are women — a significant milestone for a sector that has traditionally been male-dominated.
The Enginuity Skills Awards are held each year to celebrate people and teams who drive innovation, promote diversity, and support the next generation in engineering and manufacturing. The awards are organised by Enginuity, a charity focused on closing the skills gap in UK industry. Previously known as Semta, Enginuity was once a government-backed sector skills council.
This year’s ceremony aims to mark the start of what some see as a new “golden era” for British engineering. The event will highlight how the sector can support national growth and prosperity, especially as the country faces challenges such as Brexit and global market shifts. The need for highly skilled engineers in the UK is now greater than ever, as businesses work to protect supply chains and production at home.
Spotlight on Careers in Manufacturing
The awards also help raise awareness of the career opportunities within engineering and manufacturing. This year’s theme, “Engineering and Manufacturing is the Engine of Growth”, reflects the industry’s crucial role in the UK economy.
Ann Watson, CEO of Enginuity, represents hundreds of organisations across the sector, from small family-run businesses to major international firms. She said the finalists are proof of the industry’s future potential.
“The fact that two-thirds of the individual finalists are women fills me with joy and hope,” Watson said. “They are within reach of greatness, and they set an example for others.”
She added, “Governments and businesses both want economic growth. Our sector is ready to help deliver it. These awards celebrate remarkable people with inspiring stories. They are helping to drive innovation, and their work strengthens the entire industry.”
