Whiteley Brooks Engineering, a Coventry-based manufacturer that supplies precision parts to a range of Formula One (F1) teams, is marking its 60th anniversary with a strong push for growth. The company has recently invested £550,000 in upgrading its inspection technologies and machine tools, positioning itself in a prime position for continued success.
Founded in 1965, Whiteley Brooks Engineering has established itself as a key player in the motorsport industry. The company has provided components to nearly every F1 team, as well as Formula E and the World Endurance Championship, cementing its reputation for high-quality precision parts.
In addition to its technological upgrades, the company is also focused on training the next generation of engineers. Over the past three years, Whiteley Brooks has taken on six apprentices, now part of a 40-person workforce. These apprentices will learn from experienced team members, including Gear Purewal and Eirinn Turner, who have been with the company for 53 and 37 years, respectively.
Recently, Steve Harcourt, president of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce (CWCC), and head of operations Keely Hancox toured the Whiteley Brooks facility. During the visit, director Jat Purewal discussed the ongoing investments that are helping the company stay competitive in the fast-paced motorsport industry.
“We are incredibly proud to reach 60 years in business,” said Purewal. “I’ve been here since 2002, and it’s important to acknowledge everyone who has contributed to the company’s success, including our founders Ken Whiteley and Stan Brooks. Our success is a result of teamwork, and we remain committed to investing in technology and talent.”
Purewal emphasized that the company’s motto, “Keeping ahead of the game,” is crucial in maintaining its position in the industry. With constant innovation required in motorsports, Whiteley Brooks must continue to evolve to meet the demands of its customers.
Although details about specific customers and parts are confidential due to the nature of the industry, Purewal expressed pride in serving some of the most well-known F1 teams. He also praised the support of the CWCC, which has helped the company celebrate its milestone year.
“We are grateful for the CWCC’s support over the past 23 years,” he said. “It’s great to have the opportunity to share our success story and highlight how we’re investing in the future.”
Steve Harcourt concluded, “Whiteley Brooks is a fascinating example of a Coventry company excelling in one of the world’s most popular sports. Despite challenging times, they are investing in people, technology, and machinery, setting themselves up for sustained growth.”
The company’s continued investment and focus on innovation ensure that Whiteley Brooks Engineering is well-positioned to thrive for many years to come.
