Horn has introduced a new tool holder for its 229 grooving system, combining the features of previous models into one versatile design. This latest holder includes two internal coolant supply options, offering users greater flexibility and performance.
Coolant can be directed in two ways. It can either flow through a threaded port on the side of the holder to reach the insert clamping finger, or it can be channeled to the insert’s flank face through an alternative hole. Both methods support efficient internal, external, and face grooving, as well as parting-off operations.
The new tool holder comes in compact square shank sizes of 16 x 16 mm, 20 x 20 mm, and 25 x 25 mm. These are available from stock and are designed for cutting widths of 3.0 mm, 4.0 mm, 5.0 mm, 6.0 mm, and 8.0 mm.
Importantly, the grooving depth is not affected by the size of the holder, giving users added convenience. Each shank is made from high-strength steel, ensuring a precise fit for the insert and extending the system’s service life.
Horn’s new tool holder is aimed at improving productivity and reliability across a wide range of grooving applications.
