Xiaomi’s Founder, Chairman, and CEO Lei Jun announced on June 16 that the highly anticipated YU7 SUV will be officially launched at the end of June. In addition to the YU7, Xiaomi will unveil other new products, including the Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro, the company’s second tablet powered by the XRING O1 chip.
The YU7, Xiaomi EV’s first SUV and second vehicle model, was previewed on May 22. Described as a “luxury high-performance SUV,” the YU7 offers significant upgrades in design, technology, range, and safety features. It is targeted at professionals seeking a high-end driving experience. Xiaomi has confirmed that the vehicle will officially go on sale in July.
Addressing rumors about pricing, Lei Jun stated that the starting price would not be as low as 199,000 yuan. He noted that a price closer to the 300,000 yuan range would be more realistic for a vehicle with features comparable to Tesla’s Model Y.
The YU7’s design carries over elements from Xiaomi’s SU7 model, while adapting to the SUV’s larger size. Measuring 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, the vehicle has a 3,000 mm wheelbase. Its proportions, including a 3:1 wheel-to-axle ratio and a 2.1:1 wheel-to-height ratio, contribute to a sleek, low-slung appearance.
At the rear, the YU7 features signature elements such as a sporty ducktail spoiler and a halo-style taillight. A roof-mounted LiDAR unit highlights the vehicle’s advanced driver assistance capabilities.
Inside, the YU7 boasts a “dual-zone immersive luxury cabin,” featuring the new Xiaomi Horizon panoramic display. This setup includes three Mini LED screens that form a 1.1-meter-wide projection surface, offering five customizable information card types. A movable rear control screen enhances the experience for rear passengers.
All YU7 variants are built on an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform. Three trims will be available: Standard, Pro, and Max. The base model offers a CLTC-rated range of 835 km with a 96.3 kWh battery, while the dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions offer ranges of 760 km (Pro) and 770 km (Max). The YU7 also supports ultra-fast charging, allowing the battery to be topped up by 620 km in just 15 minutes.
In terms of performance, the dual-motor AWD version produces a peak output of 690 PS, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.23 seconds. It has a top speed of 253 km/h and can stop from 100 km/h in just 33.9 meters.
