Ford is giving its Territory SUV a fresh new look, setting the stage for a broader global rollout. While the name “Territory” may remind some of the now-discontinued Australian crossover, it’s now being used for a revamped Chinese model, the Equator Sport, which will soon make its debut in markets like Brazil.
The updated Ford Territory is set to arrive in Brazilian dealerships next month. The SUV, which shares a similar design with the Chinese-market Equator Sport, has received a facelift that distinguishes it from its predecessor. Notably, the updated model features a redesigned front end, swapping the previous split headlight layout for a new grille with chrome accents. The front and rear bumpers have also been reshaped, now with body-colored inserts that give the vehicle a more refined appearance.
Slight Changes, Same Size
In terms of size, the Territory remains unchanged. It still measures 4,685 mm (184.5 inches) in length. However, the updated model now sits on a new set of 19-inch wheels and features chrome door handles. The version shown in the images is the Titanium trim, which will be the sole variant available in Brazil at launch.
Inside, the Territory retains its digital cockpit with dual 12.3-inch screens, but Ford has introduced new seat upholstery colors and additional trim options. Further details about the SUV’s equipment will be revealed closer to its launch date.
Powertrain and Availability
Under the hood, there are no significant changes. The Brazilian version of the Territory will continue to feature the turbocharged 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine, producing 166 horsepower (124 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque. The SUV is front-wheel drive and uses a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Chinese models also offer a plug-in hybrid option, but this will not be available in Brazil for now.
The refreshed Territory was first unveiled at the Interlagos Festival in São Paulo, where Ford announced a dramatic rise in sales in Brazil, with a fourfold increase in Territory sales last year, reaching over 5,000 units. With the updated model on the way, that number is expected to grow further. While pricing details have not yet been confirmed, the current model starts at around R$ 215,000 (approximately $38,900).
Beyond Brazil, the updated Territory is set to be available in multiple global markets, including Argentina, Mexico, the Philippines, Vietnam, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia.
