Additive Manufacturing UK (AMUK), the trade association representing the UK’s 3D printing and additive manufacturing industry, has appointed Craig Pyser, CEO of AMufacture, as its new chair.
This leadership change follows the departure of former chair Stewart Lane in April. Mr Lane stepped down to focus on his role as vice president of the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA), which is the parent organisation of AMUK.
Mr Lane, who also serves as Head of Business Development – EMEA at Renishaw, led AMUK from 2022. During his tenure, he played a key role in integrating AMUK into the MTA’s group of associations and industry events. Upon stepping down, he recommended Mr Pyser as his successor.
“Serving as chair during such a significant period has been an honour,” Mr Lane said. “Now that the integration with the MTA is complete, it’s the right time to hand over to someone who’s deeply connected with the industry. Craig is well-qualified to lead AMUK forward. I encourage all members to support him and wish him success.”
Mr Pyser co-founded AMufacture in 2018 after a successful career in investment banking. Today, the company is a leading contract manufacturer in the 3D printing sector, backed by private equity. Under Mr Pyser’s leadership, AMufacture has adopted advanced technologies, including being the first in the UK to use HP 5620 3D printers.
Reacting to his appointment, Mr Pyser said: “I’m honoured to take on the role of AMUK chair. Having worked in this industry for many years, I’m excited to help guide its future. I’d also like to thank Stewart for his service and commitment to AMUK.”
Founded in 2014, AMUK works to position the UK as a global leader in additive manufacturing. It represents organisations across the sector and offers a range of services designed to support growth and innovation.
Josh Dugdale, Head of AMUK, welcomed the new appointment: “Craig has spent years at the cutting edge of additive manufacturing. His knowledge and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to grow. I look forward to what we can achieve under his guidance.”
Mr Pyser begins his new role with immediate effect.
