SODIC, a leading real estate developer in Egypt, has begun delivering homes ahead of schedule at VYE, its innovative residential project in New Zayed. This development is recognized as the largest solar-powered housing community in Africa, according to a statement shared with Egyptian Streets.
VYE features one of the largest solar power systems used for a residential community in the Middle East. This helps reduce dependence on traditional energy sources. The community’s design promotes a new lifestyle with walkable streets, bike paths, green open spaces, and co-working areas. These elements aim to blend living, working, and leisure in one place.
More than 1,700 homes are planned to be delivered early this year. Among them, over 450 homes are fully finished and ready for new residents. In the next few years, VYE will expand to include a town center, expected to open in early 2026, along with a clubhouse and a nearby retail area called Karmell Hub, set to launch by mid-2026.
“This is how people want to live today — consciously, sustainably, and surrounded by everything that matters,” said Ayman Amer, SODIC’s General Manager, in the statement.
The opening of VYE coincides with Egypt’s national efforts to reduce carbon emissions and increase renewable energy use. As part of Egypt’s Vision 2030, the country aims to have renewables make up 42 percent of its total energy by 2035. Projects like VYE are helping bring this vision into everyday life for residents.
