The Tri-Cities Cancer Center has received a new linear accelerator, thanks to support from Providence Hospital. The upgrade to this advanced technology is helping patients by offering more precise treatments, reduced radiation exposure, and faster treatment times.
Since April, the new machine has been enhancing the center’s capabilities. It allows for better tumor measurement accuracy and helps reduce the overall radiation patients are exposed to during treatment. In addition, the upgrade includes the installation of a new, state-of-the-art treatment couch that accommodates patients weighing up to 440 pounds, improving accessibility for a wider range of patients.
With these improvements, the center can now treat more patients efficiently. The enhanced treatment speed and upgraded equipment ensure better care for those undergoing cancer treatment.
“It’s amazing. Being able to offer this to our community, where we all have families and people we love, and giving them access to the best technology available, is truly invaluable,” said Jessica Lexonson, Clinical Operations Director at Kadlec Tri-Cities Cancer Center.
Beyond cancer care, the new equipment will also benefit patients with other conditions, such as osteoarthritis, by providing improved treatment options.
