American Oncology Institute (AOI) at Nangia Specialty Hospital, Nagpur, has introduced advanced Gallium Generator-based PET-CT imaging services. This enhancement strengthens the institute’s nuclear medicine and molecular imaging capabilities, providing faster and more accurate diagnoses for a wide range of cancers and infectious diseases. This move positions AOI Nagpur as a leader in precision oncology in the region.
The newly installed Gallium Generator enables the in-house production of Gallium-68, a key element in PET-CT scans. This technology helps detect cancers like neuroendocrine tumors and prostate cancer, as well as rare tumors such as paragangliomas and pheochromocytomas. Additionally, it aids in diagnosing unexplained fevers and inflammatory conditions. Patients now have access to high-quality diagnostic services locally, eliminating the need for long travel or delays.
The Gallium Generator plays a critical role in diagnosing and monitoring treatment responses for cancers that are often missed on routine PET-CT scans. These include neuroendocrine tumors, prostate cancer, and gastrointestinal malignancies.
Dr. Rohit Kakde, Nuclear Medicine Consultant at AOI Nagpur, highlighted the importance of the new technology, saying, “The Gallium Generator transforms cancer imaging in Nagpur. It provides precise imaging that’s crucial for early detection, accurate staging, and tracking therapy responses, especially in complex cases like prostate cancer and neuroendocrine tumors. Its ability to diagnose inflammatory and infectious diseases expands the scope of patient care beyond oncology.”
Dr. Hrushikesh Phate, Zonal Director for the Central East Region at AOI Nagpur, added, “The Gallium Generator is a key step in strengthening AOI Nagpur’s position as a leading cancer center with state-of-the-art facilities. Our goal is to offer patients in Nagpur and Central India the most advanced diagnostics and treatments, without the need to travel outside the region.”
AOI Nagpur continues to invest in innovative technologies to provide exceptional care and maintain its commitment to clinical excellence in the region.
