Imports of electric generator sets and rotary electric converters to Ukraine grew seven times in value during the first four months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. According to the State Customs Service (SCS), the total import value reached $516.31 million.
The main suppliers were the Czech Republic, Austria, and the United States. The Czech Republic accounted for 18% of the imports, worth $93.7 million. Austria followed with 15.6% or $80.3 million, and the United States contributed 15%, or $77.3 million. In contrast, in early 2024, the top suppliers were the Czech Republic ($15.36 million), Austria ($15.2 million), and China ($14.1 million).
In April 2025 alone, imports of this equipment rose almost five times compared to April 2024. However, the value dropped by 6% from March 2025, totaling $83.14 million.
Ukraine’s exports of electric generators during January to April were small, amounting to $1.9 million. The main export destinations were Latvia, Bulgaria, and Turkey.
In addition, imports of electric accumulators and separators increased by 2.3 times in the first four months of 2025. The total value reached $288.35 million. Most of these products came from China (78.4%), followed by Taiwan (5.3%) and Bulgaria (4.1%).
April imports of these products were 81% higher than in April 2024, reaching $70.52 million. This figure was also 7% higher than in February 2025.
Ukraine exported batteries worth $17.1 million during the same four months. The main buyers were Poland (27.9%), France (15.9%), and Germany (11.3%).
At the end of July 2024, Ukraine removed customs duties and VAT on imports of electric generator equipment and batteries.
For the full year 2024, imports of electric generators and converters increased by 3.7% compared to 2023, reaching $732.5 million. Meanwhile, imports of batteries more than doubled, totaling $950.6 million, the State Customs Service reported.
