Indofast Energy, a leading battery-swapping network in India, has joined forces with Green Tiger Mobility, a company specializing in retrofitting two-wheelers, to support the country’s transition to electric mobility. This collaboration aims to address the over 300 million petrol-powered two-wheelers in India by providing an affordable, eco-friendly, and efficient retrofit solution. The initiative is designed to help millions of riders easily switch to electric vehicles (EVs).
The partnership allows riders to convert their petrol two-wheelers into electric ones using Green Tiger Mobility’s ARAI-approved conversion kits. After conversion, riders can use Indofast Energy’s extensive battery-swapping network, eliminating concerns about long charging times and range anxiety.
The conversion process is straightforward and covers all necessary steps, such as obtaining RTO approvals, insurance, and compliance with regulations, all for a fixed cost. The conversion is made financially accessible with an affordable down payment and easy EMI options. The savings from switching to electric vehicles make the adoption of EVs more economical than ever. The retrofit solution currently supports 11 of the most popular scooter models, including Hero’s Maestro and Pleasure, Honda’s Activa, Aviator, Dio, and Cliq, Suzuki’s Access and Swish, TVS’s Jupiter and Wego, and Yamaha’s Fascino.
Currently available in Bengaluru, the service will expand to Delhi NCR by May. The company plans to extend the service across India within the next 12 to 15 months. Initially, the focus will be on delivery executives in quick-commerce sectors, providing them with a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to petrol-powered vehicles, before reaching a wider market.
Rajat Malhan, Senior Vice President of Indofast Energy, highlighted the significance of the partnership: “Imagine converting your petrol scooter into an electric vehicle with a simple retrofit. There’s no need to buy a new vehicle—just an easy upgrade to a sustainable mode of transport! This partnership is a major step toward cleaner mobility and aligns with India’s goals for EV adoption, reducing fuel costs and emissions.”
Green Tiger Mobility has already served over 500 customers in Bengaluru. The company’s products are ARAI-approved and registered with major RTOs. Supported by six patents and collaborations with esteemed institutions such as ARAI, the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), IIM Bangalore, BITS Pilani, and Bajaj Motors, Green Tiger is a key player in the retrofit market.
Indofast Energy, a joint venture between IndianOil and SUN Mobility, operates more than 900 battery swap stations across India. The company’s network serves e-autos, e-bikes, and e-scooters, ensuring seamless mobility for both personal and commercial use. By combining Green Tiger’s retrofit technology with its own battery-swapping infrastructure, this partnership aims to simplify and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles.
Ashish Dokania, Founder of Green Tiger Mobility, expressed his vision for the future: “We believe the future of mobility isn’t just about introducing new electric vehicles. It’s about converting the millions of petrol-powered two-wheelers already on the road. Our retrofit solution, together with Indofast’s battery-swapping network, offers a practical and sustainable way for riders to make the switch to electric without losing the convenience of their existing vehicles.”
Indofast Energy is leading India’s electric mobility revolution, pioneering the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. As a joint venture between Indian Oil Corporation and SUN Mobility, the company is committed to building one of the world’s largest battery-swapping networks. With over 900 swap stations in 22 cities, Indofast handles more than a million battery swaps every month and is expanding rapidly to make electric mobility more accessible and convenient.
Green Tiger Mobility, one of India’s largest retrofit companies, is dedicated to offering innovative and sustainable solutions for two-wheelers. It is the world’s first company to offer a bi-mode hybrid solution for two-wheelers, enabling riders to switch between petrol and electric modes independently. Green Tiger’s electric conversion kits currently support 11 scooter models, and the company plans to launch conversion solutions for motorcycles later this year, further advancing its mission to provide affordable and sustainable mobility for all.
