The Wirtgen Group, in partnership with John Deere, made a powerful impression at Bauma 2025 by showcasing a wide range of new machines and digital technologies. Visitors from across the globe gathered at their joint exhibition stand to explore nearly 100 machines and systems. Among them were 45 international premières, alongside many new developments in road construction, earthmoving, and materials processing.
One of the biggest attractions was the series of live demonstrations. Experts from both companies took to the stage to present detailed insights into next-generation construction methods. These presentations were supported by large LED screens and covered a wide range of topics — from the performance of individual machines to entire automated workflows. The goal was to show how digital tools can make construction more efficient and reliable.
At the center of the Technology Zone was the John Deere Operations Center™ Construction, a new digital platform that helps manage construction sites more effectively. It collects and displays real-time data to give contractors a clearer picture of what’s happening on the ground.
The event also marked the debut of several new modules in the Wirtgen Group Performance Tracker (WPT) series. These included WPT Paving, Compacting, Recycling, and Crushing, which join the existing WPT Milling system. These tools give contractors automatic data about surface area and material volumes. This helps them meet reporting requirements more easily and reduces the need for manual tracking.
Surrounding this digital hub was a showcase of complete Production Systems – the central theme of the Wirtgen Group’s exhibit. These systems bring together machines, smart tools, and workflows that are designed to work together. Eight specific use cases were demonstrated, including a system for producing warm asphalt. This example highlighted how construction teams can save resources and handle materials more efficiently.
Wirtgen Group also introduced a fully integrated road rehabilitation system for the first time. It uses smart automation and real-time data to improve the accuracy of road restoration. The system lowers costs while raising the quality of the finished surface.
Other key highlights included smart-linked crushing systems for material processing, environmentally friendly cold recycling techniques, and advanced soil stabilization solutions for heavy-duty earthworks.
As expected, the machines themselves drew large crowds. Visitors got a close look at the full lineup of brands including Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm, Kleemann, Benninghoven/Ciber, and John Deere. The chance to see 45 machines debut for the first time sparked strong interest, especially among operators keen to try the new equipment in the field.
Dr. Volker Knickel, CEO of Wirtgen Group, praised the response.
“The feedback from our customers – especially regarding our smart automation systems – has been outstanding,” he said. “Their trust and business successes show we’re moving in the right direction. Bauma was the perfect stage for us to present integrated solutions that help our clients build smarter, safer, and more sustainably.”
