Sahm Splice, a Germany-based metal processing company, has successfully installed new swaging and annealing machines at its US facility in Ripley, Mississippi. The installation is part of the company’s plan to expand its operations in the region.
The facility, which opened early last year, now features two swaging machines with capacities of 450 tons and 800 tons, as well as a Model 1225 annealing and cutting machine. These additions are expected to enhance the company’s services to a wide range of industries, including arboriculture, construction, cranes, energy, entertainment, manufacturing, marine, mining, offshore, and safety and rescue.
Omar Madrigal, Sahm Splice’s US office manager, said the installation marks an important milestone for the Ripley facility. “It has been exciting to see the equipment in action and to witness customers’ reactions during live demonstrations,” he stated. “We encourage clients to visit and watch the swagers operate, and we also offer training, repairs, and refurbishment services, along with on-site commissioning.”
The new machines are designed for precision and efficiency. The 450-ton swaging press can work with aluminium ferrules up to ZEN 30 and Flemish eye ferrules up to 1 1/4 inches, while the larger 800-ton swager can handle ferrules up to ZEN 40 and Flemish eye ferrules up to 2 inches.
The Model 1225 cutting and annealing machine is versatile, capable of processing wire ropes with diameters between 8 and 40mm. It features quick central clamping, short annealing times, and precise control over clamping jaw clearance, making it a valuable addition to the facility.
Earlier this year, Sahm Splice participated in the Associated Wire Rope Fabricators (AWRF) summit in Denver, Colorado, where they showcased their mechanical splicing products and services. Madrigal reflected on the experience, saying, “It was great to meet new and familiar faces and engage in valuable discussions. We look forward to continuing to strengthen relationships and expand our network at future events.”
The new installations mark a significant step for Sahm Splice as it continues to enhance its capabilities and serve its growing customer base in the United States.
