Comacchio has launched the CH 850, the newest and largest addition to its CH series of piling machines. This marks the sixth rig in the line and sets a new standard in size and performance for the Italian manufacturer.
Weighing in at 97 tons, the CH 850 is a heavy-duty, multipurpose rig powered by a Volvo diesel engine. Customers can choose between two engine options, offering either 543 horsepower or 463 horsepower.
The CH 850 is built for high productivity and flexible operation in foundation construction. It supports various drilling methods and offers simple transport and assembly. Comacchio also prioritized operator comfort, safety, and environmental performance in its design.
One of the machine’s standout features is its excellent torque-to-weight ratio. Its rotary head produces up to 360 kNm of torque and reaches a top rotation speed of 60 rpm. This three-speed rotary unit offers both automatic and manual modes, delivering strong drilling performance across different ground conditions. Additional functions such as spin-off and shaker systems further enhance its adaptability.
Efficiency is a core focus of the CH 850. The rig comes with an advanced cooling system that helps lower fuel usage and cuts down on noise. It also uses an innovative hydraulic system with electronic controls for its pumps and valve banks. These allow the machine to deliver precise pressure and flow rates, matching the operator’s requirements while reducing power losses and fuel consumption.
The CH 850 supports a wide range of drilling technologies, including Kelly, CFA (Continuous Flight Auger), DP (Displacement Pile), and SM (Soil Mixing). This makes it suitable for everything from deep foundation work to ground improvement projects.
In the Kelly configuration, the machine can build piles up to 3 meters in diameter and 90 meters deep, making it ideal for large, complex construction jobs.
Transport and setup have also been optimized. The CH 850 features a self-erecting system and can be broken down into modules, reducing the cost and complexity of moving it between sites. It also includes a hydraulic system for lifting counterweights, improving safety and speed during rigging and de-rigging procedures.
With the CH 850, Comacchio aims to deliver a powerful, flexible, and eco-friendly solution for modern piling operations.
