Telangana Government Approves MRI Unit for Jagatir District Hospital

The Telangana government has taken a significant step toward enhancing healthcare services in Jagatir district, with the approval of an MRI unit for the Jagatir District Government General Hospital (GGH), Health Minister C. Damodar Raaja Narasimha announced on Sunday, May 11.

Speaking at a review meeting at the district collector’s office, the minister outlined the government’s commitment to transforming Jagatir into a leading healthcare hub in North Telangana. The meeting included discussions with officials from Telangana Verbund (TVVP) and the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) to assess the current state of the district’s hospital infrastructure, public healthcare services, and identify areas for improvement.

Among the key outcomes was the approval of the MRI unit, which is expected to boost diagnostic services at the GGH. The minister also emphasized the urgent need to enhance services at the district’s three dialysis centers and warned that any neglect of patient care would not be tolerated.

“Jagatir is a priority district for healthcare development. Our goal is to make it a model for healthcare services in the state. We will ensure all necessary medical equipment is available, and doctors are expected to provide timely and compassionate care,” said the minister.

Further, the health minister directed officials to increase institutional deliveries in government hospitals, setting a target of 100% government-assisted births. Special efforts will be made to promote natural deliveries, with ASHA and Anganwadi workers tasked with raising awareness in villages about the reliability and safety of government healthcare services.

Additionally, a trauma care center will be established in Dharmapuri to improve emergency medical services in the region. The minister also ordered a review of the management of the district’s central drug center to ensure proper functioning and prevent any negligence.

The minister issued a firm warning to medical staff, stressing that strict action would be taken against those found neglecting their duties. “Negligence will not be tolerated. Doctors and staff must deliver the best service without causing inconvenience to patients,” he added.
