Atlas Copco has introduced its latest advancements in vacuum technology with the DZS 600 VSD+ and DZS 1200 VSD+ dry, oil-free claw pumps. These pumps are designed to be powerful, energy-efficient, and easy to operate, making them ideal for a range of applications, including CNC routing, pneumatic conveying systems, and central vacuum systems. Notably, these pumps are built to provide reliable, long-term performance.
According to Atlas Copco product manager Ahmed Elshaffie, the DZS VSD+ pumps are designed to be simple and modular. The pumps consist of a pump and gear chamber, separated by seals, with energy-efficient, low-wear operation. This is made possible by a special coating on the wetted parts and rotors, as well as the simple design. Inside the pump housing, two claws rotate in opposite directions without making contact. This movement draws air into the chamber, compresses it, and expels it under pressure.
In the gear chamber, two gears synchronize the rotation of the claws. A non-return valve located at the inlet flange prevents air from flowing back into the vacuum chamber when the pump is turned off. The pumps are powered directly by a motor mounted to the flange via a coupling.
Energy Efficiency and Versatility
The DZS VSD+ models stand out for their integrated Variable Speed Drive (VSD+) inverter, which includes pressure setpoint control. This feature allows the pumps to operate at high rotor speeds while adjusting motor speed to match process load, improving energy efficiency. “The DZS 600 VSD+ and DZS 1200 VSD+ can run continuously at their maximum vacuum level without risk of overheating,” Mr. Elshaffie explained.
One of the key benefits of the DZS VSD+ series is its versatility. The compact design of these pumps allows for easy installation in tight spaces, making them suitable for use in rough vacuum applications. Additionally, the pumps can be controlled and monitored remotely through the Atlas Copco VSD+ app, available for both iOS and Android devices. This app provides users with real-time access to important parameters and simplifies commissioning by allowing easy setup of target pressure, start/stop delay, and stop levels. To get started, users simply start the pump, connect the app via Bluetooth, and enter their desired settings.
Long-Term Reliability
Atlas Copco’s claw technology has a long track record of reliability in vacuum systems and other applications. Mr. Elshaffie noted, “With the DZS 600 VSD+ and DZS 1200 VSD+ models, we continue to offer a simple and reliable solution that can provide uninterrupted service for many years.”
The DZS VSD+ series provides an excellent solution for businesses seeking energy-efficient, easy-to-use, and durable vacuum pumps for a variety of applications.
