LG Electronics has announced a $600 million investment to build a new home appliance factory in India. The plant will be located in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, a key industrial region in the country’s east.

The company said the new facility will boost its manufacturing capacity in India, one of the fastest-growing markets for consumer electronics. LG plans to begin production at the site by the end of 2026.

Once fully operational, the factory will produce 800,000 refrigerators, 850,000 washing machines, 1.5 million air conditioners, and 2 million air conditioner compressors each year.

LG said the new facility will serve not only India but also nearby markets like the Middle East and Bangladesh. The company aims to use the plant to strengthen its local supply chain and grow its market share in the region.

“The Sri City plant marks a big step in our goal to become a truly national brand in India,” said Lyu. “With this local factory, we will offer more innovative products and strengthen our leadership in India’s home appliance market.”

In March, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo visited India to explore growth opportunities. His trip was part of LG’s global expansion plan. During his visit, he met with staff and business leaders to review LG’s performance in research, manufacturing, and sales. He also toured the company’s production site in New Delhi and LG Soft India in Bengaluru, the company’s largest overseas software research center.

Koo highlighted India’s growing importance in LG’s long-term business strategy. He said India would play a key role in the company’s future growth.

LG Electronics entered the Indian market in 1997. Since then, it has become one of the country’s top consumer electronics brands. Its product range includes televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and mobile devices.

The company is known for focusing on quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction. It designs many of its products to suit Indian needs, including energy-efficient appliances and air purifiers adapted to local climate conditions.

LG has also built a wide distribution and service network across India. It offers strong after-sales support and has embraced eco-friendly practices and energy-saving technology in its products and operations.

The company says it remains committed to improving the lives of Indian consumers through advanced technology and reliable service.
