Japanese engineers have introduced a groundbreaking new device that could change the way people clean themselves. This AI-powered “human washing machine” promises to provide a fast, effective, and relaxing body wash in just 15 minutes.
The invention, named “Mirai Ningen Sentakuki” (meaning “the washing machine for people of the future”), was developed by the Osaka-based company Science Co. The device uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze the user’s body and ensure a thorough wash. It can even dry the body, offering a complete cleaning experience.
For those who crave a relaxing bath but are short on time, this innovation could be the perfect solution. The washing machine works similarly to a regular washing machine but for people, completing the washing process in just 15 minutes. It is expected to be officially unveiled at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, which will run from April 13 to October 13, 2025. At the event, 1,000 people will get a chance to try the device and provide feedback on its performance.
The machine, which looks like a futuristic cockpit or a capsule, fills halfway with warm water when the user enters. Streams of water filled with micro air bubbles are then released at high speed. The bubbles burst, creating small but powerful pressure waves that remove dirt from the skin. This method is similar to the one used to clean delicate electronic components that cannot be washed with chemicals.
Science Co. claims that the device does more than just clean the body—it also promotes mental relaxation. Electrodes in the seat monitor the user’s biological data and adjust the water temperature accordingly. An AI sensor gauges the user’s mood and plays calming videos inside the capsule to help reduce stress.
This innovative machine is based on a project originally developed by Sanyo Electric Co., now known as Panasonic Holdings Corp., 50 years ago. However, Science Co. has yet to announce when the machine will be available for sale or how much it will cost.
