SiTime Corporation has unveiled its new mobile clock generator, Symphonic, which incorporates the company’s integrated MEMS resonator, the SiT30100. This device is designed to provide precise and reliable clock signals for 5G and GNSS chipsets, improving power efficiency in mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and asset trackers.
The Symphonic clock generator combines the functions of up to four separate timing devices, streamlining system design and reducing the need for circuit board space. This integration not only simplifies the design process but also makes the device more compact.
A key feature of the SiT30100 is its built-in temperature sensor, which helps enhance frequency stability through compensation algorithms. This improves GPS accuracy and reduces lock times, which are essential for maintaining stable performance in challenging conditions. The device operates in a temperature range of -30°C to 90°C and is designed for dynamic stability and power efficiency, while minimizing electromagnetic interference.
The Symphonic clock generator offers four clock outputs, supporting 76.8 MHz, 38.4 MHz, or 19.2 MHz frequencies, making it ideal for baseband, radio frequency, and GNSS applications. The integrated MEMS resonator eliminates the need for an external resonator, offering a compact, single-chip solution with an area of just 2.22 mm². Additionally, the device features a high-precision temperature-to-digital converter with a single-wire UART interface, ensuring frequency stability as low as ±0.5 parts per million.
