The Gaza Health Ministry has called on the international community to take urgent steps to pressure Israel into allowing fuel, spare parts, and generator oil into hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry warned that two major medical centers—Al-Shifa Medical Complex and Al-Ahli Arab Hospital—could stop operating within 24 hours. These hospitals are currently providing emergency care to injured and sick civilians in Gaza City and the northern parts of the Strip, after other medical facilities were forced to shut down.
The ministry stated that the closure of Al-Shifa and Al-Ahli would mark the collapse of the last functioning health centers in Gaza City. It also reported that Nasser Medical Complex, another key hospital, is running on limited fuel that will only last two more days.
As of now, the ministry added, there has been no sign that fuel deliveries will be permitted or that support for operating generators is forthcoming.
