BAR Technologies, a leading company in maritime decarbonisation solutions, has appointed Yildiz Saraç Williams as its new technical director. Her role begins on 12 June 2025.
Yildiz is a chartered engineer and naval architect with over 25 years of experience. She has worked at Lloyd’s Register, BMT, and Global Maritime. In these roles, she led many marine consultancy projects in commercial shipping. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects.
Her appointment comes as BAR Technologies expands rapidly to meet growing global demand for its clean maritime technologies. The company is known for innovations such as WindWings®, Aerobridge® superstructures, hull optimisation technologies, and zero-emission vessel systems. Yildiz’s role shows the company’s commitment to strong technical leadership and diverse expertise.
Yildiz said, “Decarbonising the maritime sector is one of the defining challenges of our time, and it is something I am very passionate about. I am honoured to join BAR Technologies, a company leading in sustainable innovation. I look forward to working with a talented and creative team. What excites me most is being part of a place where every contribution matters and where we push the limits to create a cleaner future for shipping.”
Yildiz joins a growing team of engineers and industry experts. In 2024 alone, BAR Technologies hired 20 new employees. This growth responds to increasing interest from markets around the world, including China, Japan, Greece, and Spain. Recently, the company achieved a 32% reduction in fuel consumption on the vessel MV Pyxis Ocean, thanks to its WindWings® technology. This achievement was independently verified by DNV Maritime.
John Cooper, CEO of BAR Technologies, said, “At BAR Technologies, our people are our greatest strength. With Yildiz joining us, we reinforce our promise to bring the best talent to solve the challenge of decarbonisation. Her technical leadership and vision will help us innovate faster and create the sustainable future the maritime industry urgently needs.”
This appointment follows the planned transition of former Chief Technical Officer Simon Schofield. He will continue to support BAR Technologies as a consultant, shareholder, and valued friend.
With this new leadership, BAR Technologies aims to speed up its global plans, enhance its research and development, and keep providing value to customers facing new regulations and environmental challenges.
