Haver & Boecker Extends Equipment Lifespan Through Rebuilds and Upgrades

by sthv

Haver & Boecker, a global specialist in packing, palletizing, and bagging technology, is helping customers extend the life of their packing equipment through specialized rebuilds and upgrades. As an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), the company provides trusted solutions that improve equipment performance and reduce the need for full machine replacements.

By offering Performance+ kits and other upgrade options, Haver & Boecker enables clients to modernize their systems without making major investments in new machinery. These enhancements allow older equipment to meet current standards and benefit from the latest technological advances.

“Our engineers are always working to improve packing technology,” said Uwe Golkowski, head of machine rebuilds at Haver & Boecker. “Our machines are built to last many years, sometimes even decades. But even if the equipment still works, it may lack modern features. We offer rebuilds and upgrades for all our equipment so customers can restore performance and efficiency while adapting to new operational needs.”

One example of this innovation is the company’s Performance+ kits. These kits allow technicians to replace outdated assemblies with advanced components. The Roto-Lock Performance+ kit, for instance, upgrades the dosing system. It reduces dust, product loss, and spillage by using a shaft-sealed design. The enclosed metal construction and rubber seal between the dosing gates improve cleanliness and reliability.

The Roto-Lock system is compatible with several Haver & Boecker machines, including the Roto-Packer, Integra, Elementra, and Adams models. In total, customers can choose from more than 121 different Performance+ kits. These include upgrades to sealing systems, digital controls (like MEC 4.0), drive components, and more.

Rebuilds and upgrades also solve larger issues that arise as equipment ages. Older machines often suffer from shorter maintenance cycles, and some parts may become hard to find. In these cases, Haver & Boecker offers full Performance+ rebuilds. These bring machines up to modern safety and energy standards. As a result, customers enjoy longer equipment life, higher output, and sometimes even faster processing with less wear on other systems.

“One of the oldest machines we rebuilt was 36 years old,” said Michael Gries, team leader for conversions in the Machinery Division. “The Roto-Packer needed updates in the packing silo, as well as its filling and dosing units. Our team recommended upgrades to the Roto-Lock and Roto-Feed systems. After the rebuild, the customer saw less air in the product and bag, reduced product loss, improved air quality, better layer stability, and a more efficient packing line.”

All rebuilds and upgrades are part of Haver & Boecker’s PROcheck lifecycle service. This process often begins with a site audit, called the Plant Optimization Plan. An engineer visits the facility and evaluates the performance of the machine, the bags, and the products. The team then provides a digital report with suggested improvements. These can include updates to outdated systems or modifications to make maintenance easier.

By offering smart rebuilds and targeted upgrades, Haver & Boecker helps companies modernize their packing operations, reduce costs, and get more value from their equipment.
